Woody Allen
, (. - .)
Allan Stewart Konigsberg was born on 1 December 1935 in Brooklyn, better known as the Woody Allen is an actor, director, writer and American jazz clarinetist
He has received three Oscars, two for Annie Hall (1977) and one for Hannah and her sisters in 1986. He was nominated 18 other times.
Noticed by the producer Charles Feldman, he directed his first film in 1966, Lily the tiger. He followed in 1969 with the comedy Take the Money and Run.
Allen opted first for a comic and satirical style, and the general public sees him as a little guy with glasses of a terrible blunder. Prevail, however, it works with most personal, tinged with melancholy, but always full of self-mockery, like Annie Hall (Academy Award for Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Actress Diane Keaton and especially for Best Picture in 1978 ) and Manhattan (1979), films that illustrated his first muse, the effervescent Diane Keaton.
The 1980s were marked by the meeting with Mia Farrow, his new muse, which appears in all its feature films in 1982 with Sex Comedy A Midsummer Night in 1992 and Husbands and Wives.
Their rupture causes a scandal. The actress reveals that Allen held pictures of her adopted daughter Soon-Yi Previn stripped naked. They married in 1997. The director believes that he left with the young woman was a good thing, a turning point in his career.
Nevertheless, the year of their marriage, Miramax returns after the consecutive failures of China Nights, Mighty Aphrodite and Everyone Says I Love You. Allen was immediately hired by Fine Line Features.
He followed the success with Sweet and Lowdown, Small Time Crooks and Hollywood Ending. In 2005, the director left New York to shoot three films in London: Scoop Match Point, both with his new muse Scarlett Johansson, and Cassandra's Dream. He continued his European tour with Vicky Cristina Barcelona, filmed in Spain.
Two marriages. Three children, one adopted. In 1952, he wrote gags for a newspaper while attending the High School in Midwood. He then became gagman for comedians like Bob Hope and Buddy Hackett and then editor of the TV show of Gary Moore (1957). There is also a writer (drama, novel and new). It is one of the most American filmmakers known and most prolific of the last forty years, some said it is also one of the more European. The comedies of manners, often psychoanalytic background, are undoubtedly the preferred domain although it sometimes tries other genres. He gets himself on stage as an actor in many films, often embodying a character similar to himself, a caricature of the intellectual (and humor) Jewish New Yorkers suffering from the pangs tragicomic . This is a director bulimic: since the early 1970s when its popularity has exploded, it has stopped spinning, making almost a film a year, which is probably a record for longevity and consistency in production to a filmmaker. In 1997, he married Soon-Yi Previn, the adopted daughter of his ex-girlfriend Mia Farrow.
Clarinetist, he set up a jazz band with which he performed on stage.
In the summer of 2007, he shot the film in Barcelona Vicky Cristina Barcelona.
